WORLD RECORD.... Tony Marsh, driving the Metalman Dragster has set a new world record for a naturally aspirated small block V8 at 199.17mph the e.t was 6.905 and Tony says there is much more to come. Tony Marsh is arguably New Zealands best all round engine builder and this result reflects his workmanship. In previous years the dragster camshafts have been made by some of USA's finest cam companies, But this season Tony called us with a problem, he couldn't make top end rpm because of valve train control issues and valve spring life was short (replacing on average four springs per run) the horse power was ok but anything over 9700 rpm would kill equipment. So since we love a challenge we set out to design a camshaft to help make some rpm. Through analysis of the valvetrain, design of new lobes and grinding him a new cam on our masterless CNC camshaft grinder Tony gained around forty horsepower and he now has run the engine at least eight times to 10,200 rpm and still on the first set of springs, now we will build some more aggression into a new cam and try to make even more power...watch this space 6.8's at over 200mph are coming soon..
